Abraham Lincoln is dedicated to economic modernization, including the promotion of banking, railroads and urbanization. Abe has long favored improving navigation on the waters of Illinois to promote commerce. Abe puts the value of common good before his own self interests. He lost the last election for the Illinois General Assembly when he enlisted in the rifle company during the Black Hawk War. Abe was elected captain of that company and served three months.

Abe has worked as a farmer, barge captain, postal clerk, shopkeeper, shop owner and deputy county surveyor in New Salem. As a working man, Abe knows the value of perseverance and he will work extremely hard in the legislature. As a Whig, Abe will represent this district by working across party lines to benefit this didtrict and the entire state of Illinois.
